CONCERT PROGRAMMES

The Amaia Quartet is a London-based string quartet with a passion for bringing vibrant performances to diverse audiences. With members from Scotland, England and New Zealand, they enjoy giving recitals around the UK and abroad exploring the incredible string quartet repertoire, from Schubert to Shostakovich to Caroline Shaw. Most recently, the Quartet has performed in concert series in Welwyn Garden City, Biggar, Gravesend, and Conway Hall in London. In 2024, the Quartet established a new concert series at Woodfield Pavilion in Streatham, London, with the aim of reaching new audiences within the community who never or rarely experience live classical music. They intend to expand the series to other community venues across London in the future.

Luke Mitchell is a prize-winning harpsichordist, organist and conductor who combines a broad portfolio of work with posts in London and Oxford. As a harpsichordist he recently took first prize in The Musicians' Company Harriet Cohen Bach competition with music by François and Louis Couperin, the first winner in its history not to play an all-Bach programme. He recently made his sold-out concerto debut at the London Handel Festival, having formerly appeared as concerto soloist and director at the Keble Early Music Festival. Verena Eggensberger completed her Professional Performer's Diploma in 2025 at the Royal Academy of Music, where she now holds a Fellowship coaching chamber ensembles.

Serbian-born double bass player Strahinja Mitrović won the Guildhall School Gold Medal in 2024, the first bassist to win this award since its inception in 1915. Then in 2025 he was the joint winner of The Musicians' Company Prince's Prize. Both awards are tribute to his remarkable playing style, exuding an extraordinary ability to make the bass sing. His choice of two sonatas originally for violin will show off this musicianship and his phenomenal technique.
