St Bartholomew the Great is the oldest parish church in the City of London. Its Norman interior and distinctive acoustic provide the setting for the Society’s regular lunchtime series.

- Are the lunchtime concerts really free?
- Yes. Admission to City Music Society lunchtime concerts is free and includes a printed programme. A collection is made at the end of each Young Artists concert to help finance future concerts.
- What time do the concerts start and how long do they last?
- Concerts normally begin at 1.05pm and last about 50 minutes, so you can attend during a lunch break and be back at work by 2pm.
- Where are the concerts held?
- Most concerts take place at St Bartholomew the Great, West Smithfield, London EC1A 7BE, the oldest parish church in the City of London, a short walk from Barbican, Farringdon and St Paul's stations. Some concerts are held elsewhere, as indicated in the concert details.
- Do I need to book a ticket?
- No booking is needed. Seating is unreserved, so it is worth arriving a few minutes before 1.05pm on busy days.
- Who performs at the concerts?
- The Society presents outstanding young professional musicians, many of them prizewinners at international competitions, alongside established chamber ensembles. Full details of each programme are listed on the concert calendar.
